Why SUP? What's so exciting about it?

Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP) is a very inclusive sport that can be enjoyed safely by people of almost all ages and abilities. It is fairly easy to master the basic skills and it is a great exercise in nature!

Paddleboarding provides many opportunities for progression so it’s important to learn paddleboarding skills properly to avoid picking up bad technique and bad habits. These are harder to unlearn when you’ve been self-taught or (it happens!) badly taught.

SUP lessons have no age limit and almost anyone can learn to stand up and get going on a paddleboard. It helps to develop good balance as well as strength and stamina. It burns calories without ever feeling like you’re wiped out. Instead, you have fun throughout and finish filled with positive energy, clear head and a smile on your face!

SUP has the perfect combination of adventure, exercise and relaxation.

It’s not surprising that SUP has become the most popular way to explore London’s fantastic network of waterways.

What SUP session suits you best?
Groups

2hr Group SUP

These sessions are guided trips taken by highly qualified instructors and suitable for both complete beginners and paddlers with some experience. Every session starts with a safety briefing and land based skill drills so beginners can grasp the basics and returning paddlers refresh their skills. We tend to do most of our learning on the water under a watchful eye of a coach aiming to get you going as soon as possible and safe to do so. Our group sessions are mixed ability groups so it’s important we stay together on the water and look out for each other.

Groups

3hr Intermediate SUP

These group sessions are specifically aimed at intermediate paddlers. Whether you want to improve your skills and stamina, progress in the sport, develop your paddling and knowledge of the sport or just paddle farther and spend less time setting up. On the high tide (incoming flood tide) you will go beyond Richmond towards Twickenham and if the weather and tide conditions are good and the group is strong possibly even close to Teddington and back. On a low tide (outgoing ebb tide) you should be able to get to Barnes or Hammersmith. For canal trips we will paddle as far as we can manage with portages and tunnel navigation when necessary.

Whatever the weather you will enjoy a challenge with an experienced instructor who will push you a bit more.

Private 1:1 or private group

2hr Private SUP

You will have your own instructor. It can be either 1:1 or a private group session fully tailored to your needs and requirements. Children are allowed on these sessions (over 11s on the Thames and in Paddington; around 7+ in Brentford – please check FAQs under BOOK HERE). Well behaved dogs are also welcome!

Mix of craft SUPs and Canoes in Paddington and Brentford is possible by arrangements. Best to call or email us to discuss what’s possible if you are looking for a fully tailored session.

Small private group

Off Tide/Off Peak

You will have your own instructor. This is a reduced price private lesson perfect for small groups. These sessions are based on the middle of the outgoing tide when we can use the local islands to our advantage in paddling against a weaker tide.

We usually enter the Thames Lock (Grand Union Canal) to take a break before drifting back with the tide.
